So it figures that right after posting yesterday - just when we think we have the schedule all figure out - a monkey wrench is thrown in the works and everything changes again.  It's such a ripple effect, too.  Moving one title usually ends up affecting three others.  And that's why in so many of the deals below, you'll see a season instead of a month.  ;-)

Speaking of scheduling, my whole inspiration to write about it, which I then forgot to mention, was Warner Brothers pushing Harry Potter off to July 2009 and then the Twilight movie leaping into the vacated slot of the big Thanksgiving weekend.  We don't usually get other publishers' schedules in time to change anything in our own lineup.

It's true that a lot of huge names in one month can definitely affect the number of copies we're able to get out to the bookstore.  But then I've also heard from booksellers that being released in the same month as a big name can be a great boon because readers come out to the store and end up making a few impulse buys along the way.

Now in case you haven't been to the front page lately, here are a few of the latest deals:

Lisa Cooke's debut novel, TEXAS HOLD HIM, a sizzling story about a riverboat gambler out for vengeance and the Southern belle desperate to learn poker to save her family from ruin. Lori Foster calls it “mega fun, fast-paced and with a sexy to-die-for hero—my favorite kind of historical romance.” Coming in April 2009.

Stephanie Rowe - two thrilling romantic suspense novels set in Alaska. Look for ICE in Summer 2009.

Gemma Halliday - 3 books in a brand new Hollywood Headlines series set in the newsroom of the L.A. Informer and starring everyone's favorite tabloid reporter from the High Heels series, Felix Dunn.  Look for SCANDAL SHEET in Summer 2009.
